georgeM. – Pullman Cologne

In the course of the room restructuring at the Pullman Hotel Cologne, the existing bar at level 12 was redesigned a well. The main idea was to design a “Trendy Bar” like a “Sky Lounge” to emphasize the new, modern hotel concept. One of the main features is the direct and unique view to the cologne cathedral, the town’s landmark.

The existing bar with it’s charm of the 70s, presented itself in the typical spirit of time like a basement bar. The bar counter was directly placed in front of the window. The barkeeper area was lowered, but the view, the highlight of this location, was limited and secondary noticeable. Our concept was converse.

The windows were totally exempted from everything and bar with its area of operation was located vis-á-vis. Hence, from every seat, a fantastic view to this impressive scenery is afforded to the guests. For not concerning the view by reflections at night, the whole lighting concept was attuned to this. The downlights are only spotlighting the tables surfaces. The main lightning is done by indirect, rolling light-joints embedded into the ceiling. The areas Bar, Dining, Relaxing- and Lounge Area are also illuminated by soft light to emphasize the master concept.
